BE NOT CONFORMED

by Kevin Rutherford

Paul said, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect Will of God (Romans 12:2).” The command to avoid conformity to this world still stands.  Christians must still make application of Paul’s inspired words.  However, Christians are allowing themselves to be conformed.

When Christians begin to think homosexual behavior is not so bad they have been influenced by the world.  Our news and entertainment media has bombarded society over the past five years with homosexual friendly messages. Through these powerful media they have been able to influence America and the church.  Homosexuality is still wrong (1 Corinthians 6:9-11).

When Christians begin to dress in immoral clothing they are proving that they have been influenced by the world.  The world wants to bare hips, thighs, navels, and more.  This is of the devil and not of God.  Christians ought always to dress in clothing that does not draw undue attention to their bodies (1 Peter 3:3, 4).

When Christians think sexual humor is enjoyable they have succumbed to the world.  Show me a clean sitcom on TV today.  Show me a clean comedian. Find me a clean talk show with a talk show host interested in purity and integrity. What are watching these days?  What kind of filth is entering into your mind? Keep your speech pure and avoid those who speak from a darkened heart (James 3).

Christians need to be different from the world.  Are you different?
