THE ULTIMATE TERRORIST

By Kevin Rutherford

Since September the eleventh, 2001, the subject of terrorism has dominated American political thinking and action.  Because the terrorists continually shed innocent blood we are always happy to see a terrorist brought to justice.

The ultimate terrorist is not any of the men that you regularly hear about in the news.  Actually, he is not a man at all.  He is a spirit being who is sometimes called “Satan,” or “the devil.”  The Bible tells us he is our enemy and he is looking for ways to hurt us (1 Peter 5:8).  He is the ultimate terrorist because not only does he cause death and destruction, but he also leads souls away from the truth (John 8:44).

This ultimate terrorist shed much innocent blood when he persecuted the church through the Roman Empire (Revelation 12, 13).  Worse than that, he has lead millions of souls astray through his deceitful ways (Ephesians 6:11; Matthew 7:13, 14).  However, he will be brought to justice someday (Revelation 20:10). The capture and punishment of Satan, the ultimate terrorist, will occur on the day of judgment (Revelation 20:11-15).

Until the day of judgment comes we must continue to fight against this spiritual terrorist.  God has given Christians the weapons we need to fight Satan (Ephesians 6:10-20) and the strength to overcome (James 4:7).  Never give up your fight against the ultimate terrorist.
