While on this earth we face a formidable foe (1 Peter 5:8).  Our adversary is the deceiver, the prince of darkness, the prince of the powers of the air, and a tormentor of the righteous.  He will tempt us, and he will hurt us.  Do you recall how he hurt Job?  He accused Job, and then attacked Job.  He took away Job’s wealth, children, and health (Job 1, 2).  Satan is wicked, cruel, and determined to take as many souls to hell with him as he can.

While we are on this earth we must fight against Satan.  He will use our own lusts against us (James 1:13-15).  He will lure us with his subtlety and cunning, and then he will pounce on us like a roaring lion (1 Peter 5:8).  But we have power over the devil.  With God on our side we can win (Romans 8:31). “Greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4).”

While on this earth we must face this fierce foe.  However, we will achieve the victory, and we will win.  We will achieve victory over Satan and death through Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:57).  We will achieve victory over the devil through our faith (1 John 5:4).  Just as God gave His kingdom victory over Rome (Romans 15:2) so he shall give His kingdom ultimate and final victory over Satan (Revelation 20:10).  Fight on toward the victory!
